pamac or pacman displays misleading info in package update summary
Pamac Version
10.2.0-1
Libpamac Version
11.1.0-1
Desktop environment
KDE
What's not working
Misleading info on package update summary
How to reproduce?
While new updates available:
- Execute
pamac update
and cancel. - Execute
pacman -Syu
and cancel. - Compare their summaries.
Example
pamac shows:
To upgrade (3):
inotify-tools 3.21.9.5-1 (3.21.9.1-1) community 154.9 kB
python-more-itertools 8.10.0-1 (8.9.0-1) community 70.2 kB
sudo 1.9.8.p2-1 (1.9.8.p1-2) core 1.6 MB
Total download size: 1.9 MB
Total installed size: 18.8 kB
pacman shows:
Package (3) Old Version New Version Net Change Download Size
community/inotify-tools 3.21.9.1-1 3.21.9.5-1 0.00 MiB 0.15 MiB
community/python-more-itertools 8.9.0-1 8.10.0-1 0.02 MiB 0.07 MiB
core/sudo 1.9.8.p1-2 1.9.8.p2-1 0.00 MiB 1.57 MiB
Total Download Size: 1.78 MiB
Total Installed Size: 7.88 MiB
Net Upgrade Size: 0.02 MiB
Looks like both pamac
's lines shows misleading info:
-
Total download size
improperly rounding sum of package sizes; -
Total installed size
shows too low size like it is a "additional size usage after doing upgrade" and not "whole installed size of all mentioned packages".
Thanks!
