GNOME 43 Pamac Updates Indicator incompatibility
Versions:
libpamac version: 11.3.1-1
pamac-cli / pamac-gtk version: 10.4.2-1
Distribution:
Manjaro
Desktop environment and version:
GNOME 43.rc
What's not working?
Enabling the Pamac Updates Indicator extension crashes the entire GNOME session and forces a logout. Extensions are automatically globally disabled upon logging back in. Without manually disabling Pamac Updates Indicator manually with gnome-extensions disable pamac-updates@manjaro.org before globally re-enabling extensions, the session will crash again.
Steps to reproduce:
-
Test GNOME 43 using the Manjaro unstable repo + fcgu repo. DISCLAIMER: Neither Fabian nor I are responsible for system breakage. DO NOT ask either of us for support.
-
Follow the instructions in the README, but DO NOT install the
fcgu-mirrorlistpackage. Instead, save themirrorlistmanually as/etc/pacman.d/fcgu-mirrorlist. -
Use Pacman to update and install packages. DO NOT use Pamac. It's highly opinionated and incompatible. You have been warned.
More information (optional)
I was not able to watch the log with journalctl -f -o cat /usr/bin/gnome-shell and could not find anything relevant after the crash occured.
