## What's not working
Some AUR PKGBUILDs produce multiple packages, and at present pamac doesn't seem to have a good way to handle them, so they are being treated as separate packages and built repeatedly. In some cases, dependency check will fail if a package depends on another package produced from the same PKGBUILD with matching version (that they must be built and installed/updated at the same time).
This complicates updating as at present, when AUR support is enabled, pamac defaults to marking all AUR packages for update just like official one, so I need to explicitly unmark at least these problematic ones, or simply update only the official ones through the usual `pacman -Syu` command.
## How to reproduce?
Install/update some multi-package PKGBUILD AUR packages. Some notable examples include `ceph`/`ceph-libs`, `gcc7`/`gcc7-libs`.
These packages cannot be updated directly from pamac GUI due to failed dependency check, since the main package depends on the library package with matching version, which is produced from the same PKGBUILD and both should be installed/updated at the same time.
## More information (optional)
Handling these multi-package PKGBUILDs, especially when it comes to updates, can be very complex. The AUR `packages` page presents information regarding packages separately, though it does provide information about the package base (PKGBUILD), which can then be viewed from the `pkgbase` page containing a list of all packages that would be built from the same PKGBUILD. It should be noted that if a PKGBUILD has only a single package, its `pkgbase` page will simply redirect to its respective `packages` page.
No AUR helpers handle this perfectly as far as I know, though some helpers such as trizen do provide options to choose and confirm which packages from a multi-package PKGBUILD to be installed (which actually comes from `makepkg -si`). From what I could remember, if specifying more than one of the packages from the same PKGBUILD it would still be processed more than once by the helpers.

## Pamac --version
Pamac 10.4.3-1 - libpamac 11.4.1-1
### Variant in use
GUI (`pamac-manager`)
## Distribution
Manjaro
## Desktop environment
KDE/Plasma
## What's not working
Error when trying to install optional AUR dependency.
## How to reproduce?
Preparations:
1. Make sure you have an up-to-date system.
2. Install the Canon drivers for CUPS: [cnrdrvcups-lb](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cnrdrvcups-lb) (from AUR)
* [cnrdrvcups-lb-bin](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cnrdrvcups-lb-bin) may also trigger this bug, but I haven't tested. (I wanted to get a sheet of paper printed, I didn't want to test different scenarios.)
3. After that is finished, feel free to close `pamac-manager`, configure the printer, wait some days, whatever. (Well, in practice, just close the `pamac-manager`.)
4. Launch `pamac-manager`.
5. Search for `cnrdrvcups-lb`.
6. Click on it to open the details page.
7. Click on the **Dependencies** tab.
8. Observe it lists two packages as optional dependencies: `libjbig-shared` (from AUR) and `libjpeg6-turbo` (from main repositories). If you followed the steps until now, these packages are not installed yet, and you will see little down-arrow buttons besides them.
How to reproduce:
1. Select the first package. Or select the second package. Or select both together.
* It may be worth trying to reproduce this bug in these three scenarios.
2. Now, the selected package(s) are marked for installation. (And you can even see that at the bottom status bar, and also at the "Pending" section from the main navigation.)
3. Click **Apply**.
4. Type your password if requested.
5. ERROR: a window shows up with the unhelpful message "target not found".
## More information (optional)
It seems that if you navigate to the specific package page and try to install/build it from there, it works fine. (But it also marks as manually installed.) The bug happens if you mark them for installation from the optional dependencies.
It took me quite some debugging time to figure out why printing wasn't working, and then even more time to figure out why I couldn't install the dependencies that seemed to fix the issue. So I'm posting this bug report hoping people can reproduce the issue and can find the bug with pamac(-manager).

### Variant in use
GUI
## Distribution
Manjaro, Manjaro KDE
## Desktop environment
XFCE & KDE
## What's not working
If you switch to the details view (little arrow on the lower right of the GUI window), it is in ‘follow’ mode, scrolling forward as lines come up. Sometimes many lines come up in quick succession and that is when the following status is often lost. You have to scroll down to the latest line to bring it back to follow mode. Pamac will loose the following focus again when a couple of lines will come up in quick succession.
## How to reproduce?
Run a larger upgrade.
Switch to detailed/log view
Scroll down to make sure Pamac is autoscrolling to follow the log
Wait until several lines come up in quick succession
## More information (optional)
If this is intentional, I think it is a bad choice. Since it is a GUI anyway, there could be simple checkboxes (“always follow”)
Edit: It has been like that for a while, now, not a recent change.

Enabling screen rotation and holding the PinePhone on horizontal helps to an extent, but the entire UX goes sideways as is not very fluent, and scrolling is tedious (this might not be Pamac UI fault tho).

## More information (optional)
Once i switched to `adw-gtk3` theme, the UI looks a bit better and while updating or installing packages initially made the console access button shift to the side too much, with this theme that issue is not present, but the above issue is present regardless the theme.

## What's not working
Pamac will not suggest to install a new dependency coming from an AUR package being updated, if the pkgbuild file hasn't been downloaded already prior to the update. It will result in an error of a missing dependency. It seem that the new pkgbuild file doesn't get downloaded to check for dependencies.
## How to reproduce?
* Do updates containing an AUR package with a new and missing dependency.
* Make sure the pkgbuild files hasn't been downloaded already.
## More information (optional)
When re-applying the updates, it will pick up on the new dependency. Deleting he pkgbuild and retrying the updates will result in the same problem.

## How to reproduce?

* Begin typing a search term into the search entry
* After the 2nd character of the search term is entered the UI freezes
* Continue typing and no characters will appear until the search completes
* If you use the same search term again during the same session the freeze does not happen
* If you use a different search term the same freeze will happen
* If you close and reopen the pamac-manager gui the same freeze will happen again

### Proposed Solution
Within resources/manager_window.ui use the search-changed signal to make the on_search_entry_changed callback instead of the changed signal.
the search-changed signal is already "debounced" so it will wait for 150ms after the last keypress before
initiating the search. This is a better user experience IMHO.

Hi,
I'd like to propose going back to an /rpc based approach for retrieving metadata from the AUR:
Instead of directly querying the API on aurweb, you can self-host [your own instance](https://github.com/moson-mo/goaurrpc) of the /rpc service.
This would solve several of the current issues:
- 8.8 MB download of metadata archive is still a huge bandwidth waste.
While the Manjaro users are routed via the manjaro CDN, pamac users on other distros [are still fetching](https://gitlab.manjaro.org/applications/libpamac/-/blob/master/src/aur.vala#L128) it from aurweb, crippling the bandwidth of the aur.
- When pamac loads the metadata file into memory, it's using huge amounts of RAM (+ 500MB).
regards,
mo

## TL;DR
After doing a large update of all my packages, pamac gtk suggested I restart my computer to apply the updates. After restarting I could not boot into Manjaro anymore. (In this specific case, it appears pamac had deleted my kernel images from `/boot`, meaning Grub had no entries for me to boot into my system.)
It would be amazing if instead of prompting the user to restart their machine, some preliminary checks were done to ensure that the system will actually be bootable before the user does so. This script can be dead simple at first, I'm sure volunteers from the open source community will expand upon it and make it great later on :slight_smile:
<details><summary> Full Story </summary>
I was gone for 2 weeks on vacation. Upon returning home, I clicked the update button in pamac to update all the packages on my system. The only warning I received during the update was about nvidia470 not being removed because I have some dependency that cannot be resolved otherwise. I thought nothing of it – either that stuff won't get updated and I can worry about it later, or I'll have to fix my drivers next time I boot. What I didn't know, is that after the update process completed, I was left without any linux images in `/boot`. I had to get a live recovery USB, mount my system drive, chroot into it, manually install the latest linux kernel (`mhwd-kernel` would refuse to update my kernel, but that's a bug for another day/project. See attached photo if interested.), run `update-grub`, and then install `video-nvidia`, because without it I had a grub entry but still could not boot into a usable system.
This all could have been avoided if pamac had done the simple check of "does the system still have a kernel installed?" before asking me to reboot my system :smile_cat:

## Distribution

## Problem
When cloning from github through https, it fails quite often, because github is blocked in my country.
However when cloning from github though ssh, it usually succeeds.
Can there be an option to clone from github through ssh instead of https?
## More Info
There is an option in `.gitconfig`
```
# Enforce SSH
[url "ssh://git@github.com/"]
insteadOf = https://github.com/
```
By this, when cloning from github from https, it will always clone through ssh instead.

## Version?
Pamac 10.4.1-1, libpamac 11.3.1-1, GUI, Manjaro, GNOME.
## How to reproduce?
* Step 1
Search for any application with screenshots like Gemini or GIMP.
* Step 2
See in the right Side bar the screenshots. Depending on your resolution and screen size, it becomes very hard to see the screenshot. You can´t click on the image to open in eog or zoom in the image. So you just can't see the image perfectly.
## How to improve?
Allow to click on the image to zoom or open in a external application like eog or another image viewer as describe in the mimetype. The better solution would be allow to click and then opening inside the pamac-manager like a new popup that you could manage the zoom in and out, next, previous. It would be perfect.
Thank you for everything.
