[Power/Backlight] Automatic Brightness dims screen to low values but never turns back on the screen
Build Version: Manjaro ARM (Phosh) Beta 6
Bug description:
- When switching on the "Automatic Brightness" function under "Settings -> Power", the screen over quite a short period of time dims further and further, until the screen appears to be off. The phone itself hasn't crashed as you can still hear the UI sounds (for example when adjusting phone volume). Also dmesg and journalctl don't show a crash of the kernel or any other service in the phone. When you check the output of /sys/class/backlight/backlight/actual_brightness, it drops to very low values, in my case as low as value 9, but never gets up again. Going to a dark of very light area doesn't seem to have any impact.
Expectation:
- I would expect "Automatic Brightness" control to adjust the screen brightness to useful values for the amount of light available in a certain place (room/outside). And that brightness of the screen can never go to such low values that the screen appears to be off and you are unable to set any backlight level manually.
Workaround (to get backlight on again so you can turn of automatic backlight):
- Set the brightness level manually in the file /sys/class/backlight/backlight/brightness. For this you need to be logged in as root in a ssh session. issue a "echo 950 > /sys/class/backlight/backlight/brightness" and go to "Settings -> Power" to toggle off "Automatic Brightness" again.
