New "Update on shutdown" feature cripples boot process
Pamac --version
Pamac 10.5.0-1 - libpamac 11.5.2-1
Variant in use
CLI
Distribution
Manjaro
Desktop environment
GNOME
What's not working
Upon reboot, Manjaro fails to start. It occurs when installing an new Kernel version upon shutdown, using the new feature. /boot is mounted as a separate vfat partition, also used as EFI partition. I'm using systemd-boot.
How to reproduce?
- Enable the new "Install updates on shutdown" feature.
- Install a new kernel this way
- Reboot & break
More information (optional)
It seems /boot is unmouted before pamac updates the system, because the new initramfs and vmlinuz files are in the /boot directory on the root filesystem, instead of in the boot partition. Moving the files form the root partition to the boot partition, resolved the issue.
