[Pamac 9.1.1] Suspicious, it seems that Pamac doesn't detect upgrade of menulibre from 2.2.1-1 to 2.2.1-1.0
I have no idea if this bug is already known and solved with Pamac 9.2.0, but I noticed this issue while trying to upgrade from current Stable to current Testing with Manjaro XFCE with Pamac GTK.
As you can see in this post, I compared the result between the pamac checkupdates
command and the checkupdates
command, and I noticed that the upgrade for menulibre
package is missing, while detected properly with checkupdates
.
Perhaps the problem resides on how Pamac compares versions to detect if a package is in a higher version than the other. Because yes, going from menulibre
2.2.1-1 to 2.2.1-1.0 is really supposed to be an upgrade (as for if it is actually good or bad packaging, that's another debate). I do not know exactly how Pamac handles version comparisons, if it borrows some functions from libalpm to do the job or if it has its own implementation of a "version comparison" algorithm.

What do you think of this? Is it worth spending time with this, considering that it can be avoided easily by the package maintainer?
