[Plasma Mobile] [UX] Define minimum backlight value when reaching the lock screen and brightness slider
Overview
Given the backlight is set too low, the screen becomes black. This is especially problematic when the backlight setting is preserved on reboot.
Method to replicate and verification
Using light
to control the backlight for ease of use.
With Plasma Mobile build on stable
:
- backlight value:
sudo light -S 23
=> Screen is practically off - backlight value:
sudo light -S 24
=> Screen is barely visible but usable
Set the backlight value to minimum from the slider (or less than 23 with light
) and lock the screen.
The device would appear as non-functioning from end-user perspective.
There is no method to increase the brightness without ssh or sheer luck of unlocking the device blindly (and then increasing the brightness slider).
Suggestion
- Define a minimum brightness value for the plasma mobile brightness slider.
- Define a minimum brightness value that has to be set when the lockscreen is presented
- Possibly define the same minimum value to be set on startup
Other
Would this be better to end up on the Plasma's bug tracker? While the values could change between devices or versions, the suggested behavior improvement appears to be universal
