Buttons for switching/closing tasks/apps missing, top pull down menu not available
New Pinephone KDE Plasma community edition. Ran update on jan 22nd 6pm PST , 912mb aprox.
I was patient for it to ask to reboot where it did not actually update. went back into updates and saw update button available but size was 0 bytes. some more patience and it asked to reboot again, then after rebooting said installing updates, this took 15 minutes.. once it was all finished it was sitting for a long time and a noticed the notification LED was emitting a 3 color slightly offset and overlapping in one direction of red/green/orange. after 10 minutes like this I pressed the power button once and it did nothing. i left it for another 5 minutes, then held down the button. phone turned off. i pressed the power button but it did not start, so i disconnected the usb power cable and plugged it back in, phone started.
After update on first bootup: -missing bottom three icons for switching/closing tasks -no way to exit the applications, except reboot -missing top battery and wifi icons/bar -missing top pulldown menu. pulling down fails to bring down the menu.
Possible clues: -battery and wifi show on login screen along with time and new background, upon unlocking, top bar with battery and wifi then becomes missing.
Possible troubleshooting steps: I would love to load the original image and try updating only half of the packages and narrowing it down, but i don't have the time for that right now . if anyone has any suggestions, I can try and give feedback. Perhaps turning the phone off while it had the 3 color light interrupted the update, but hopefully the package manager would catch this.
