Suggestion for a chown alias
This post on the forum highlights potential issues with chmod
even to experienced users.
From man chown
--dereference
affect the referent of each symbolic link (this is the default), rather than the symbolic link itself
--no-preserve-root
do not treat '/' specially (the default)
The chown command is frequently seen on the forum and other places on the internet.
As Manjaro tries to make Linux accessible to everyone - we could consider an alias to avoid a potential disaster.

The alias could be added with an explanation to the bashrc file
# The following alias prevents recursive owner change on root and symlinked files
alias chown='chown --no-dereference --preserve-root'
